Smitty's Flatten Opposition

Western Sr B's

Smitty's Restaurant of Manitoba captured the Western Sr B Women's championship but they needed a bases loaded single in the bottom of the 7th to do it.

Smitty's was trailing 2-1 in the 7th when tourney MVP Tannis Lavallee knocked in the tying and winning runs.

Lavallee walked off with both the Top Batter and MVP award, while Cheryl Berg (pictured with Men's Top Pitcher, Daryl Tilley) won Top Pitcher.

The tournament was termed a "success" by official host, Martin Sayle. "The woman's tourney was very exciting" said Sayle, " the teams were very balanced so it made for a very exciting brand of ball".

The tournament was also the "swan song" for Softball BC's Director of Fastpich, Heather Bee. Heather will stepping down at this year's AGM and freeing up some time to pursue other interests.
