Doug Smithson Memorial Tournament

Doug Smithson Memorial: Confirmed for June 30, July 1 and 2, MacDonald Park, Victoria.

Details for this year are as follows:

The entry fee will be $300 and there will be 4 games guaranteed, 20 teams max. preliminary payouts include $25 per round robin win, 2 pools after RR.

Payouts Based on 20 teams:

2 500 300
3 300 100
4 300 100

Any other teams from Vancouver/Interior intrested in coming to the Island??. With the excpetion of the Senior B provincials this is the tournament to attend. Would love to see some more teams from off the island attend. Kudos to Lomas and possibly fleetwood for attending

what happend in the umpy tourni

Cancelled due to only 6 teams. Impossible to run a tourny with 6 teams especially in Victoria and come out making any money.

So far this year.

Art and Marion Hutt Tournament down two teams from 10-8
Vancouver Ice Breaker capped @ 10 teams but could have had 13 down from as many as 24 in the last couple years
Kelowna 5 teasm down from 8
Victoria Umpires Cancelled

Tougher and tougher to get the few teams left to tournaments.

Check with Sam or John but I'm Pretty sure Swiftsure is in the Doug Smithson Tourney.

Swiftsure will be there.

Victoria Merchants beat Swiftsure in the final 1-0 with Scott Leiph getting the shutout and Colin MacKenzie holding the Merchants down most of the night. Andrew Medwedrich wit a homerun to deep right in the bottom of the 6th for the only run of the game.

Thanks to all the out of town teams for coming down and spending the weekend in Victoria.

Finally, More thanks to Ian Flint and the Port Angeles guys for organizing the tribute game for Don "The Bear" Schlemmer on Saturday and to all who came out to play and watch.
