The Nanaimo Senior Men's Fastball League is Bidding fof the Western's Next Year

Why Support our Bid??

We have a proven track record of being able to Host Tournaments
We have a first Class Facility- McGirr Sports Fields
If Nanaimo is the Host- There will be more spots available for BC teams at the Western as WFC has already qualified as 2011 BC Champ. Top two teams will qualify from provincials vs just one if hosted some where else!!

Thanks for your support!!

Jesse Honkanen
Manager Wheatsheaf Fastball Club and Co-Chair of 2012 Western Canadian Bid.

Abbotsford as well is putting a bid together for the 2012 Western's. Plenty of upside for us to host this tourney. Great facility, easy travel for teams coming in and tons of hotels.

Hey Harvey, where do you plan to host this? You said great facility so I am assuming not at Centennial.

Do you have to go to the Provincials to host the Westerns?

Rookie better hope they are not on the island or you are going to have to have a bunch of bottle drives

It will be interesting what teams go to the B's this year as the Westerns are in BC.

LAST YEAR ALL 6 TEAMS IN THE B'S WERE FROM THE ISLAND.

I guess it really depends on where the Senior B provincials will be next year.

WFC will be attending the Senior B Provincials no matter where they are.

macktack99, sounds like you should look into the mirror and look at your own district and see the track record for when teams fromyour part of the sland go to provincials, (for the exception of Sooke) when they are not on the Island. Last year they were at Softball City and only Sooke showed up and played well, (good on them). This year Provincials are held in Victoria and there are 6 teams, why is that? I am going to guess COST is the big one! We only have 1 legit Sr B team here, the others went "C".

How about you guys put your bid in and we put our bid in and let's see who gets it! Then support each other and make this about the game and not about the district or the politics! We should not be putting bids in if it isn't for the good of the game and the kids that will benefit from it down the road.

No district in BC or Canada is bigger than the game. We all owe the game, the game DOES NOT owe us anything!

Quoting Rookie - "We all owe the game, the game DOES NOT owe us anything!"

Well Harv, we do owe the game, so why would you not attend the Provincials on the Island? If it is a cost factor, there is plenty of time to fundraise to attend them! It is not like SBBC says the Provincials are going to be "here" next weekend. They give us all plenty of time to make plans. All you saved last year was the ferry fare! A car load (4 people and vehicle) equals $104.25 times 2 (return fare) would equal $208.50 which actually adds $52.12 to each person!!!! Maybe don't take the family next time. Lame excuse if you ask me and anyone else who loves the game!!!!

Classy? What are you talking about? Harv, you went to the 'C' Provincials!!!! They were in Sicamous. The discussion was, you said it costs too much to go over to the Island and I was just spelling it out how much extra it would cost. And just so you know I did attend a Provincial and a Western Canadian. I spent my own money to get to both. Leduc, Alberta costs a little more than it does to go to Vancouver Island! I love the game Harvey, so I don't need a team to cover my costs to play this game. Unlike some players who need gas money, food money, etc. to play fastpitch!!!!

I will say this much, leaving the family behind is not an option for some. If anything we should be trying to get the families more involved in the game. How many guys do you know that have given up on the game because it was too much time away from the wife and kids?

I grew up at the ball park watching my dad play and I'm fortunate enough to have a family that comes out and watches our games. It's not just Dad going to play ball it's the family going to the ball park.

This is all I am going to say about this all. Yes we went to the "C"'s, not because the "B"'s were on the Island. It came down to where we felt as a team on where we could compete without being embarrassed as we were 2 years ago. My family didn't come to provincials so that is a non topic, after all, I wouldn't be referring to somebody's family without knowing the facts.

I am glad that you went to provincials, I am also glad that you spent your own money, guess what, so did I.

You have your opinion and I have mine. Leave it alone and move on.
