It is great to see 18 teams at the tournament.

Breakdown as Follows

4 Island
9 Interior/North
3 Vancouver
2 Fraser Valley

Do you think that is the tournament was held in Nanaimo or Victoria we would have the same number of teams?

My guess is that if it were on the island you might see a few more island teams, a lot less interior/northern teams, and a couple less teams from the Lower Mainland.

I would guess that a trip to the island would add at least $100/family for our team due to the ferry costs versus travelling to the Okanagan (single tank of gas). I know that the island guys spend the money to come over and it would be great to reciprocate but it starts to make this sport expensive.

Do you guys from the island see much in the way of sponsorship? I know over here in the Lower Mainland most teams are paying everything out of pocket themselves.

I know that dollars are tight for everyone and with respect to finding a good sponsor, it is very tough. We are very fortunate to have a awesome sponsor who supports us. However we do a lot of work as well by holding our Annual Ice breaker, Team Raffle and meat draws throughout the year.

You can cut a lot of cost to the Island by walking on the ferry and renting a vehicle believe it or not. You just have to be a close team and willing to scrunch up for a few minute drive to the fields. We love traveling to the Island and will continue to do so in the future.

Congratulations guys. We came up a bit short on the weekend, but it's good to see the Gold come to Surrey, even if we weren't the ones to bring it.
Sicamous put on a great tourney once again. Lots of good competition and a great venue.
