Derek Mayson's three run bomb in the top of the first inning set the stage for the Meralomas as they coasted to a 9-4 win over the Stealers in the 2nd game on opening weekend at Steveston park.
The Stealers battled back bravely but were clearly outmatched as Mayson was snapping the ball up to 78mph on the Prostock radar gun and also mixed in a nifty change up.
Loma newcomer Calem Gardner was a force at the plate, going 2 for 3 including a home run.
The first game of the day saw Mike Egerdeen and Jeff Kawaguchi square off in a pitcher's dual with both pitchers hitting 74mph. Egerdeen was mixing in an off speed "helicopter" pitch while Gooch was consistently foiling Firefighter batters with a deadly change up.
In the end the Giant hitters prevailed as they tallied six runs and held the Firefighters scoreless.
