Sammy comes home

The Vancouver Grey Sox men's fastpitch team has acquired the services of Sammy Sosa for the 2007 season.

Sosa was released early this morning by the Texas Rangers, who will hold a press conference at noon today.

"He was DH and wasn't seeing the field on defense for Texas" said coach John Stuart, "Sammy wants to play fulltime and we'll give him that opportunity. He'll fit nicely into the middle of our batting lineup and get a chance to play centerfield!"

Sosa's decision to leave Texas and return to Vancouver, where he played Triple "A" baseball for the Vancouver Canadians, was based mostly on his wishes "to just play with his friends."
