BC had a strong showing at the Peewee A Nationals in Montreal this past week. Richmond Islanders 94 (with two of the Delta Heat 94 pitchers as pickups), came home with the Silver medal and the Victoria Devils 94 team placed third bringing home the Bronze medal. The White Rock Renegades also represented BC at the Championships and finished seventh out of the twelve teams.
The Islanders, with a 5-1 record in the RR Red Pool secured one of the four double knockout playoff spots. After winning their first two playoff games, they almost came back from a 5-1 deficit in the Final game against the Guelph Electri-Tech Gators but ended up losing a nail biter by the score of 5-4. Their record for the entire weekend was 8-2.
The Devils also secured a double knockout playoff spot after going 6-0 and winning the RR Blue Pool. After losing their first game in the Playoffs to the eventual winning Guelph team, the Devils won two straight due or die games to secure a bronze medal but faced the Guelph E-T Gators again in the Semi Final and didn't fare any better. They also ended up with an indentical 8-2 record with the Islanders (only losing to the evenutal champions twice).
The Renegades placed third in their RR Red Pool which meant they only secured a single knockout playoff spot. They lost their only playoff game to the Ontario 3 team out of Halton Hills. They ended up with a tournament record of 4 wins and 3 losses.
Although there were many outstanding performances at the tournament, these BC players were recognized for their play in the Round Robin.
