Hammer Pounds Triple

Oakeys moving up

Chris (Hammer) Staal (pictured) hit a 2 rbi triple in the 6th inning to put the Oakeys ahead of the Abbottsford Slammers as the home team edged out a 9-8 win on Tuesday night at Squint park.

After a slow start that saw the Oakeys drop their first 4 games, the club has battled back and finally boasts a winning record of 5 wins and 4 losses in league play.

In tournaments, the club has fared much better by claiming a gold in North Delta, silver in poco, and recently a silver at the Connaught Women's tournament.

Head coach Milt Michael voted his team as "most deserving" of moving up in the rankings and the committee agreed, as the Oakeys move from 6th to 3rd spot in league rankings.
