Canada Cup July 1

Makin a Difference

perfect style

by Milt Michael, July 2 '06

This author may have to retract yesterdays prediction after witnessing an extraordinary exhibition of pitching by Robin Makin as Canada opened the tourney with an impressive win over Delta Sunfire.

The retraction comes with a clarification though...I'm still picking Asian teams to do well. But Makin is the one to watch for all young pitchers who want to see what perfect mechanics looks like.

Robin allowed only one hit while striking out eight in five innings as Canada mercied the Sunfire 7-0.

Makin mixed a 64mph drop with a 62mph rise, and an effective change in the mid 40's to mow down a pretty good "B" level team.

Canada faces Japan Elite tonight at 6:30.

Robin follows the principle of "up together down together" as well or better than anyone in the game, including the men.

The ball and the glove both rise and fall in perfect harmony. The knees come together and hand follows through across the body and up.
